Rowley Returns to Reading

Rowley Returns to Reading

The club can announce following the conclusion of his loan deal goalkeeper Matt Rowley has returned to his parent club Reading.

Matt made fifteen appearances and kept five clean sheets in his time at the Bev.

Manager Alan Dowson wanted to stress with fans that, due to EFl rule changes this year we could not keep Rowley on.

The new rule stipulates that if an EFL player goes on a short-term loan that ends within the January transfer window, then that loan cannot be extended beyond the end of January.

On Rowley's departure, Dowse stated "It is a shame he has to leave, both clubs didn't really know about the rule. But he's a great kid, done really well for us, I like him as a lad and he's always welcome back at the Bev any time he likes!"

From everyone at the club, thank you Matt for your contributions this season and we wish you all the best!
