The club is happy to announce the arrival of 25-year-old striker Jasper Mather!
Mather, who turned out for St Albans's City last season, recorded 19 goal involvements in 28 starts last season, including three in five FA Cup matches as The Saints reached the First Round proper.
The club caught up with our new forward and asked him why HRBFC, and what the fans should expect from him!
HRBFC: Firstly, how does it feel to have signed?!
JM: I'm absolutely delighted to be signing for this fantastic club. I've lived just five minutes from the ground my whole life so I already know it very well!
HRBFC: It is an exciting time at the club and there is a lot to look forward to, what attracted you most
JM: It is certainly a project which I'm looking forward to being involved with. Obviously the owners are showing real appetite for growth not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well, with the ground redevelopment and it's clear that there's a long-term plan not just to take the club up the National [League] South but beyond that as well and I really wanted to be a part of that.
JM; Obviously to work with Dowse is something that I really wanted to do. He's worked with a lot of big clubs in Non-League and also as a player in the Football League so I'm really looking forward to working with him and getting started.
HRBFC: For those who may not be aware of your playstyle, what should they expect?
JM: I think players and fans can expect somebody that gives absolutely everything every week, will run himself into the ground, wants to cover every single blade of grass every single weekend. And at the same time on the ball I want to make things happen, I want to beat players, score goals, get assists, help the team in that way. I don't like to be negative on the ball, I don't like to pass the ball backwards unless it's absolutely necessary. I want to get the ball moving forwards and get the fans off their seats!
HRBFC: You were part of an impressive cup run with St Alban's last season, What have been some of the highlight's of your career so far?
JM: Yeah I'd have to say the FA Cup run last season was definitely a highlight, to make the first round is always a massive goal of mine every year and for whatever reason it hadn't happened up until that point so it became something that I wanted to do even more every year that it didn't happen. So to finally get to the first round and for it to be such a great tie against Burton away was really rewarding, and at the same time to make it in front of our own fans in extra time on a replay was even more dramatic! So that was definitely a highlight!
HRBFC: Finally, a message for the fans?
JM: I'm really looking forward to meeting you and giving you something to shout about, I'll give absolutely everything I have to make this season as successful as possible, see you soon!
