HRBFC AND BURLINGTON HOUSE PARTNERSHIP

HRBFC AND BURLINGTON HOUSE PARTNERSHIP

At the Tonbridge Angels fixture, the football club was delighted to partner with Burlington House 6th Form and provide opportunities for five of its students to experience various roles on a matchday at the Bev.

Burlington House School is an independent SpLD specialist school with a focus on mainstream education for pupils with dyslexia and other learning disabilities that is based in Hammersmith.

On the night; Fraser, Harlow, Oscar, Dillon and Kaya assisted in the club shop, tuck shop, on the turnstiles and were part of the media team in the evening.

Steve Proctor, Head of Sixth Form, said

“Nationally, 95% of adults with Learning Disabilities are unemployed. At Burlington House, we are trying to change that figure, one young person at a time. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to combine their love of football with practicing their employment skills as part of the wonderful community at Hampton & Richmond Borough FC.  It can be hard to find opportunities for our students to showcase their talents, and we thank Seb & the team for giving them the opportunity. We look forward to returning to the Bev before the end of the season.”

Seb White at HRBFC, said

“Having previously worked at Burlington House, I know how important its work is. So, it was an absolute pleasure to have the guys at Beveree Stadium. Like any non-league football club, we always need an extra pair, or pairs of hands, and the students threw themselves at everything and anything, and were extremely helpful. Despite the result, they seemed to really enjoy their time. We see this as very much a first step in a long-term partnership, and we cannot wait to welcome them back to the Bev.”

As a sign of our new partnership, Burlington House School has kindly donated a sum of money to pay for benchwear for the ball boys to use for the rest of the season.

The football club is always interested in exploring partnerships with organisations in the local community and beyond.
