Hampton & Richmond FC are delighted to announce that George Hunt has now agreed a deal to stay at Beveree Stadium for the 2024/25 campaign.
The 23-year-old Midfielder earned many plaudits in his first season in TW12, playing a huge role in the Beaver's 17-game unbeaten run throughout October, November and December. His ability to patrol in front of the back-four and play key forward passes will be another valuable asset to Alan Julian's side.
The Slough-based Centre-Mid started his career with Wimbledon, featuring in the youth system for the Dons, Brentford, Southampton and Coventry City before making his first senior appearances on loan to CB Hounslow. Following that loan, George moved to Bournemouth, continuing with their U21 side before eventually moving to Slough Town. Hunt spent two seasons in the National League South with the Rebels, after which he signed at Gosport Borough in the Southern League. Hunt then signed for the Beavers in summer 2023.
After agreeing his new deal, George told us "It was a disappointing way to end things last season. To do as well as we did during that run, and not finish in the play-offs, I think can only be seen as disappointing." He continued, "With the players Alan has brought in so far, and from speaking with him personally, I think we are going to have that little bit more grit in our teeth. For me, it's about going a step further than last season and everyone giving absolutely everything on the pitch."
Alan Julian was delighted to get George Hunt back through the gates of the Bev. "It was a massive shame for George to have his amazing run in the team last season ended due to a niggling injury. If he can truly put that behind him, we have ourselves an incredible warrior in the Midfield. Personally, I think George Is someone who didn't quite get the credit he deserved last time out, and I really hope he can build and have and even better season for us."
Welcome back George!
