On Tuesday March 3rd Hampton & Richmond Borough will travel to Enfield to take on the 23rd-placed Towners in what will be another crucial match in the battle for National League South survival.
It was a disappointing defeat last time out to Eastbourne Borough, who snatched a late winner at the Bev to leapfrog tomorrow’s opponents and emerge 2-1 victors.
Enfield, despite being one place off the foot of the table, have only lost once in their last six games. Last time out they drew at home to Bath City 1-1, and have recorded draws against Eastbourne Borough and Ebbsfleet United in recent weeks as well as beating Horsham 2-1 and recording an impressive 5-0 victory against Farnborough on the 21st.
However, that joy was short-lived as they suffered an 8-0 defeat at the hands of Maidstone United the next game, tying the record for the heaviest defeat in the competition’s history.
As highlighted previously, Sam Youngs will be a player to look out for. Last season he hit seventeen league goals and picked up the manager’s player of the season award. He is fast approaching 300 appearances for the Towners and currently sits on 99 goals for the side.
This season he has nine goals and two assists in 28 league appearances.
Striker Lamar Reynolds is the club’s second top scorer on eight, but he hasn’t netted since the 3rd of January.
Overall, the two sides have played each other twelve times, with HRBFC winning seven of those encounters. Last season the home side won the bout on both occasions, with this fixture ending 1-0 in the Towners' favour in March of this year.
This will be the first time we face Enfield this season due to three postponements, and they will be our final opponents of the season when we will conclude proceedings for the 25/26 hosting Enfield on April 25th.
It is a quick turnaround as has become the familiar routine in recent weeks, and we are back at the Bev this weekend when Dover Athletic come to town. The support was much appreciated last time out, and we would love to go a few better than the 915 we had.
