Fixture Focus: Dover Athletic H 7/3

Fixture Focus: Dover Athletic H 7/3

On Saturday March 7th Hampton & Richmond Borough welcome 16th-placed Dover Athletic to Beveree Stadium.

Midweek, the Beavers drew with Enfield Town 1-1 in North London as Nana Boateng’s second goal for the club was cancelled out by a Henry Hawkins finish.

Saturday’s opponents Dover had a rest midweek and last played Slough Town where they secured a point away from home.

The Whites have only won once in their last six games which was an impressive 4-1 victory over Hornchurch, but three 1-1 draws as well as losses to Dorking and Torquay rounded out a disappointing February.

In their first season back in the National League South they have been a steady mid-table presence, having a goal difference hovering around zero, and picking up almost equal points both home and away.

Their 4-1 win against the Urchins was only the fourth time they have scored three goals or more all season, with the first time coming back in September where they bagged two late goals to draw with us 3-3 in the reverse fixture after a Craig Fasanmade brace and a left-footed finish from Harry Gardner.

When Dover have threatened up front it has largely been through George Nikaj and Ruben Junior.

The pair of forwards started the season on fire, both occupying spots at the top of the goalscoring charts in September. Their form has since slowed a tad, mirroring Dover’s descent down the table, but they are still the Whites’ danger men.

Nikaj has ten goals and four assists, and Junior has eight and two respectively, with both forwards finding the net against Hornchurch on the 24th of February.

Both forwards participated in the Baller League, and in their absence, Dover had adequate deputies, with Decarrey Sheriff, Kenny Coker, and Alfie Matthews all bagging goals for the Whites too.

Last season HRBFC bested Dover 1-0 both home and away, and a repeat result would go down a treat with Dowse and the Beavers faithful.

The support last home game was huge and we loved having all 915 of you at the Bev last weekend!

We would love to see even more turn out this weekend to the support the side, the games are only getting more important!
