Fixture Focus: Eastbourne Borough (H) 28/2

On Saturday, February 28th Hampton & Richmond Borough host 23rd-placed Eastbourne Borough in what will be a crucial battle at the bottom of the National League South table.

After one of the best performances of the season against Bath, the Beavers came up short away to Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday.

Saturday’s opponents The Sports also suffered defeat at home to league leaders Dorking Wanderers, but despite their league position, the South Coast side has recorded a pair of impressive victories in recent weeks.

Last week they bested 3rd-placed Torquay 4-2 and on the 10th of February they recorded another home win, 3-1 against Maidstone United.

However, these two wins account for six of their seven points that they have picked up since the start of the new year.

They have conceded the joint-most goals in the league with 66, but they have scored the most out of the teams in the bottom seven.

Boro have scored 4 or more goals on four occasions, all coming since late November when they unfortunately put six past us in the reverse fixture.

In that game Pemi Aderoju scored four and is the away side’s top scorer with fifteen goals in 24 appearances. The 21-year-old is on loan from Peterborough United.

Aderoju is the only player who has a tally over six goals, but they have shared the wealth with sixteen different goalscorers so far this season.

In 20 total matches, the sides are level in the head-to-head with eight wins, and interestingly in the last six matches the home side has won, with three wins apiece.

In the prior four games, the away side took all the points, so which trend will we see play out in the latest edition?

Let’s hope the Beavers can get back to winning ways and get some revenge for that heavy defeat earlier on.

Alan Dowson and the lads will need all the support you can give this Saturday, we need each and every one of you to pack the Bev and make your voice heard for this six pointer!
