CLUB STATEMENT: NOTICE TO SUPPORTERS

Do your bit for the side!

There have been numerous glowing references in recent weeks to our growing number of supporters, both at home and away matches. Dowse regularly references your superb backing in his pre-match and post-match interviews.

Yet a handful of younger followers let us down in the Easter Monday match at Maidenhead.

They were reported by the referee for flicking or squirting water at the Magpies goalkeeper, who was on the ground and receiving treatment near the goal. One of these so-called supporters also discarded an empty water bottle over the fence in the direction of the incident.

The club roundly condemns this sort of behaviour and will make every effort to prevent a recurrence.

The referee reported to the incident to the FA, who have asked for our comments. Fortunately, the response has prompted them not to issue a charge against us, but we have been warned that any further incident involving our supporters could lead to action against the club.

We urge our loyal and responsible band of supporters to either:

Ask anyone indulging in anti-social behavour to stop.

OR

If you are anxious about being involved, report it to a steward, who will take the necessary action.

Let’s do everything we can to support the team, but not in an anti-social way.
