Hampton & Richmond will be looking for back-to-back victories as The Beavers take on Weston-super-Mare in the National League South on Tuesday night. This fixture is the first of three National League South home fixtures in a row at Beveree Stadium.
Who Are They:
The Seagulls were founded in 1887 and in 1900 joined Division Two of the Western Football League. After World War Two the club reformed in 1948 and rejoined the same division they were once in. The side stayed in the second division until 1960 when the league format changed as it was made into one division Weston-super-Mare. In the 1991-92 season, the club was promoted to the Southern League Midland Position after winning the title. Eleven years later another promotion would occur with a second-place finish promoting them to the Premier Division. In their first season in the Premier Division, they finished tenth which meant they were to be placed in the Conference South. The club’s most successful run in the FA Cup happened in the 2003-04 campaign when the Seagulls reached the second round of the competition, but were eventually beaten by four goals to one against Northampton Town. In 2012-13 the side completed their best finish in the sixth tier of English football as they ended up placing 7th with 67 points, however this season the club are sat second at the time of writing.
Last Time Out:
Hampton & Richmond secured a three-nil victory on Saturday against Hashtag United in the 3rd round of the FA Trophy, with Alex Wall scoring an excellent bicycle kick. Weston-super-Mare’s last fixture was on the 30th of November against Worthing where the side lost by three goals to nil at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium. The Beavers have picked up ten points in their last five league games, while Weston-super-Mare have picked up one less with nine.
Who Scored The Goals:
James Roberts remains Hampton & Richmond’s top goal scorer so far this season, with ten goals in all competitions. The number nine scored his tenth of the season in the victory against Hashtag United last Saturday. Weston-super-Mare’s top scorer this season is Luke Coulson as he has ten goals in the National League South so far this season. The Seagulls have managed to find the back of the net on thirty-three occasions in nineteen league games, while Hampton & Richmond have netted twenty-six times in twenty.
Historic Statistics:
These two sides have played against each other eighteen times with the Beavers winning a staggering twelve times. Weston-super-Mare have gone ahead and won two of the games and the other four have ended in a draw. The last time this fixture was played was on the 23rd December 2023 at Beveree Stadium where a double from Ben Seymour inside twenty-three minutes was enough to get Hampton & Richmond a two-one win.
