Three More Through the Door!

Three More Through the Door!

The club is pleased to announce a trio of new signings to bolster the squad ahead of Alan Dowson’s first game back at the Bev this Saturday against Maidenhead.

22-year-old Ben Jackson is arriving on a one-month loan from Aldershot Town. The central defender was a successful trialist for the Shots this preseason and joined the Hampshire side after five years in Brighton & Hove Albion’s youth academy. He spent last season on loan in the Scottish Championship at Livingstone and Queen’s Park.

The club media spoke to Dowson about his new men. When asked about Jackson he said, “He played for me when I was there [At Aldershot]. I think he’ll be a great asset to us. [He’s] a great lad, a good centre-half who can play [with his feet] aswell.”

Aaron Lacey is the second central defender joining the Beavers on an initial one-month loan. Lacey has joined on loan from Oxford United. He signed his first professional contract with United this summer and travelled with the first team on their pre-season tour to Indonesia. He also spent time at Step Four Stratford Town on loan last season.

Dowson added, “He’s someone I’ve been keeping an eye on for a while. He came into Aldershot and I think he might have been on his way to a club up North, but we stopped that. He’s another centre-half who can play right back aswell.”

The third signing is Haydon Vaughan, a young attacking midfielder on a permanent deal after leaving Aldershot Town. Vaughn impressed at Step Five Sandhurst Town whilst on loan from Step Three Bracknell Town in the 23/24 season, scoring 17 goals (including this screamer) and registering eight assists. He was recalled to Bracknell and continued in a similar fashion, scoring and assisting nine each as Bracknell made the playoffs, prompting Aldershot to sign him to a two-year deal in May 2024.

“He’s got everything to prove and he’s coming here to prove to the whole world what he can do. And I believe he can do that. It is up to him to prove it and show what he’s about which he has in the past couple training sessions.”

We would like to wish Ben, Aaron, and Haydon all the best at the Bev.
