Hampton & Richmond host their first home game of the season against Weymouth
Mel Gwinnett can look forward to facing the team he played for in his final year as a professional footballer once again with the two sides facing off for the third time in 8 months.
Weymouth and Hampton & Richmond have historically avoided each other, with only four previous encounters between the sides before last season. The Terras will be happy with their record in this fixture, having won four and lost two against the Beavers. However, it was Mel Gwinnett who had the last laugh just a few months ago, as a late goal from Ruaridh Donaldson condemned Weymouth to defeat whilst ensuring the TW12 sides National League South survival for another season.
Bobby Wilkinson and his squad will be looking to make the long journey from the South-West worthwhile by putting the spoils on the Beavers homecoming. Hampton & Richmond have not played at home for the first seven games of the season, and with three back to back defeats in the last 10 days, the hosts know they need to put on a real performance to welcome back the fans and steady the ship as we enter a busy September.
Last time out, Hampton & Richmond suffered a 3-1 defeat at Farnborough, with Jake Gray addressing the fans afterwards, stating that the players have no excuses for these results, and that it's time to react. Weymouth, meanwhile, were involved in a close fought defeat with former National League side Maidstone, the game finished 3-2.
