NEXT UP - BEAVERS TAKE ON THE GULLS

By Lloyd Hassell

Who Are They
Founded in 1899, Torquay United did not move to their current stadium until 1921, when Plainmoor Ground was built. In 1927, 28 years after forming, The Gulls became champions of the Western League, which meant the club successfully applied to become a Football League club. Torquay United found their record goal scorer, Sammy Collins, who scored 219 goals in 379 matches for the club. Eric Webber managed the club for fifteen years during his tenure, and one of the club's most famous days was when Tottenham Hotspur travelled to Plainmoor Ground in 1965 for an FA Cup match. The Gulls managed to get a 3-3 draw and force a replay at White Hart Lane. Throughout recent times Torquay United has been in the National League pyramid since 2014. The Yellow Army was incredibly close to getting promoted to the Football League in 2021 but narrowly lost to  Hartlepool United on penalties at Ashton Gate.
Last Time Out
The Beavers got a huge 4-0 win last time out against Enfield Town at the Beveree Stadium and will want to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Torquay United hosted St Albans, and former Hampton & Richmond player Ben Seymour scored his side's goal in a 1-1 draw.
Regarding the league table, Hampton & Richmond currently sit eleventh, while Torquay United is in fifth place in the playoff positions.  Both sides have picked up the same points in the past five league matches with eight points.
Who Scored The Goals?
James Roberts is The Beavers' top goal scorer, with six goals in eleven matches in all competitions this season. Torquay United scored thirteen goals in the National League South with six players on two goals each. Hampton & Richmond have the better defensive record as they have kept four clean sheets in the National League South, while Torquay United have kept two. However, Torquay United has conceded fewer goals with nine, while Alan Julian's side has conceded eleven in the league thus far.
Historic Statistics
Hampton & Richmond and Torquay United have played each other six times in their history, with the away side coming away with three wins. The Beavers have won two of these games. The last time these two sides played against each other was on the 23rd of March 2024 at Plainmoor Ground, where an Asa Hall penalty decided the game to give Torquay United the three points. Hampton & Richmond's last home game against this opposition ended in victory as a Mason Bloomfield brace and a Seymour goal secured the points on the day.
