Luis Fernandez is Back!

Luis Fernandez is Back!

The 23/24 players player of the year and firm fan favourite is back at the Bev!

The 24-year-old centre back has rejoined the club on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee from Eastleigh where he made over 50 appearances in two seasons, featuring in our FA Cup tie versus the Spitfires in October.

He first joined the Beavers in May 2022 from Stevenage where he made his first team debut at just 17 in August 2019. He had loan spells in the National League at Oxford City and King’s Lynn Town.

During his time at the Beavers he made 67 league appearances, scoring eight goals as he established himself as a threat from set pieces.

In his final game for the club at the end of the 23/24 he captained the side.

In the midst of a gruelling schedule, Fernandez is keen to get back to playing week in week out, saying

"I haven't got a bad word to say about [Eastleigh] but I wanted to play some more games...and ultimately help the club."

In his return interview to the club Fernandez stated his intention for the remainder of the season,

“I think the league position is a bit false right now based on the squad and the club itself.  The main priority right now is picking up points, climbing up the table and securing safety, and that’s what I’m here to achieve.”

Manager Alan Dowson echoed his new defender’s sentiment, adding,

“We both agreed that we won’t let Hampton get relegated. He knows the club and I’ve known the lad a few years so there’s gonna be no problems between us! I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Hampton shirt again like everyone else.”

Welcome back, Luis!
