JORDAN CALLS TIME ON HIS PLAYING CAREER

Hampton & Richmond regrets to announce that Jordan Cheadle’s contract at Beveree has been terminated by mutual consent, and he has subsequently made the decision to retire from football.

Jordan signed for the Beavers in the summer of 2023, and was one of the first players retained by Alan Julian when he became manager this year. Unfortunately, a recurrence of the knee injury Jordan sustained last season has meant it was unlikely that he would play again this season, and it is with heavy hearts that Jordan and the club have agreed to part ways.

On announcing his retirement, Jordan said, “Whilst disappointing, it feels like the right time to call it a day for my family and I. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hampton & Richmond and wish Jules, and everyone at the club, nothing but the best. My only regret is that I wasn’t able to contribute more on the pitch - but the support from the club is something I’ll always appreciate””.

Having started his career with Walton Casuals, Jordan moved on to Carshalton Athletic and subsequently Dorking Wanderers, where he was part of the squad which won the National League South Play Offs in 2021/22.

Upon Jordan’s departure, manager Alan Julian said, “I wish Cheads all the very best in his retirement. He’s a wonderful footballer with a great career behind him, but more importantly a wonderful human being. I love Cheads to bits and had the pleasure of being in the dressing room with him for a season. We were both injured during that time, so we got quite close and I have a huge amount of admiration for him. This season, unfortunately with injury Jordan hasn’t been able to do what he himself, and everyone else, wanted him to do, which was get on the pitch and be an important player for us.”

“I know the risks of pushing and injury – I’ll be dealing with pain the rest of my life because of it – and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, so if Cheads says the time is right for him to hang up the boots then he’s absolutely right to do so. Health is more important than anything. Jordan has a wonderful wife and two beautiful children and I wish them all the best in the next stage of life. I’ve got all the time in the world for Jordan and his family, and I’d love to see them back at the Bev at any time in the future.”

Everyone at Hampton & Richmond echoes Alan in wishing Jordan the best, and we hope to see him in the Alan Simpson Stand soon.
