Fixture Focus: Bath City (H) 22/11

On Saturday 22nd of November Hampton & Richmond Borough return to Beveree Stadium for the first time in over a month to face Bath City.

It was a disappointing defeat in the FA Trophy away to Isthmian League South Central leaders Leatherhead last time out for the Beavers, falling 2-0.

In his post-match interview manager Alan Julian was candid in admitting he “did not see that coming”, adding “They were the better team and \deserved to beat us.”

Julian and the squad were disappointed to not build on a positive second half performance against Chelmsford and a full 90-minute display against Horsham.

Saturday’s opponents Bath City have also struggled in the league recently, sitting in 17th on 18 points, just one more than our own tally. The Romans have also played one more match than us, having been knocked out of the FA Cup at the second qualifying round stage.

Despite their shortcomings, they are unbeaten in their last four matches, most recently progressing in the FA Trophy beating Step 3 Bracknell Town 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

However, they have just one win in their last five league games, beating Slough Town 3-2 away from home.

Bath City boast a host of attacking options who will pose a threat to the Beavers’ back line. Forward Brad Ash has six goals on the season, and former Plymouth Argyle midfielder Will Jenkins-Davies has five. The 21-year-old joined City this season and has formerly represented Wales at multiple youth levels.

Forward Owen Windsor has scored two goals in the last two games after joining at the end of October, and the Romans also have the experienced Alex Fisher in the squad. The 35-year-old has played in five countries, including three clubs in Belgium and AC Monza in Italy.

Hampton & Richmond Borough need to avenge the two defeats they suffered at the hands of the Romans last season, losing both fixtures by a combined score of 0-6, losing at the Bev by a handful.

Home support for the first time in over a month will hopefully breathe new life into the squad, make sure you are at the Bev nice and early to create a great atmosphere for the lads and get behind Alan Julian and his men.
