The Beavers collide with Southend United for the first time in their history this afternoon, with both sides looking to secure a place in the next round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

Unbeaten in the league in over two months, Hampton & Richmond come into this game cautiously optimistic of a cup upset, although Southend have a history of overcoming lower league opposition in this competition. 

It’s been two weeks since Southend were last in action, drawing 1-1 at Gateshead, with last week’s scheduled match against Wealdstone being postponed.

Kevin Maher’s men kick off their FA Trophy campaign, hoping to go further than las season, where they were beaten in the fifth round by York City.

Hampton & Richmond had an equally uninspiring campaign last term, bowing out at the first attempt against Farnborough at the Bev. This season, a secure 5-1 away win against FA Cup surprise packages Cray Valley PM saw the TW12 side cruise into the next round, with a potential big scalp on the horizon.

New loan signing Sam Dreyer is likely to be involved, as well as George Nunn, who has made several substitute appearances in the league as of late.
