This Saturday 30th August Hampton and Richmond Borough will host Ebbsfleet United at Beveree Stadium.
The Beavers will look to make it three wins on the bounce against the Fleet, who will be looking to getting back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw at home to Bath City on Monday.
Hampton & Richmond Borough continued their fine run of form away to Chesham United, beating the Generals 2-1 courtesy of goals from Davide Rodari and Reece Grego-Cox, who scored a second added time winner in as many games following Paul Field’s header against Dagenham & Redbridge.
On bank holiday Monday, HRBFC fell behind early in the tenth minute as Chesham scored a well-worked counterattacking goal from a Beavers corner.
Winger Connor Roberts found space on the right-hand side and put a low cross into the corridor of uncertainty which was dispatched on the half volley by Mitchell Weiss.
The home side had the lion’s share of possession throughout the first half in a stop-start affair but lacked a cutting edge and the Beavers drew level on the stroke of half time following a lovely curling effort from our number seven Rodari.
Nathan Paul-Lavaly, deployed on the left side of the defence in this outing, drove forward in the opposition half and found midfielder Luke Robertson who played it to Field. Field played it inside to Silva, who saw two efforts blocked before the ball fell to Rodari on the left edge of the box. He opened his body up and curled the ball into the far post past the Chesham goalkeeper Ben Goode at full stretch.
The second half followed the same pattern until the 79th minute, when a Chesham United throw caused chaos in the box and centre-back Charlie Sayers had to clear a bouncing ball off the Hampton & Richmond Borough line. The home side threatened again in the 86th through Matt McClure whose half-volley was well-saved by James Holden from close range.
After withstanding pressure in the second half, the Beavers best spell with the ball came in added time, and so did the winner.
A long ball forward from substitute Craig Fasanmade found Bromley loanee Soul Kader on his second appearance for the club, but he was tackled. The ball only went as far as Paul-Lavaly who, after a mazy run into the box, cannoned a shot off the crossbar and it bounced down and out, only for Grego-Cox to get his second of the season by poking it home from close range which saw the Beavers secure another three points in their third away game of the season.
Their opponents for Saturday have enjoyed a good start to the season. Their ten-point haul puts them joint second, along with Hampton & Richmond Borough along with two other sides.
They finished bottom of the National League last season with a measly 22 points, a whole 18 points lower than Fylde who finished in 23rd. Despite that, they started their National League South campaign with three wins and clean sheets on the bounce, beating Dagenham & Redbridge, Chippenham Town and Chelmsford City respectively.
However, they are winless in their last two games, falling 0-2 away to Slough Town and drawing their latest match with Bath City at home after scoring a late equaliser in the 88th minute.
They have had a different scorer or each of their five goals scored this season, with the most notable being former Crystal Palace, Cambridge and AFC Wimbledon striker Kwesi Appiah. The 35-year-old Ghanaian international scored twice for his country and was a part of the squad which were runners up in the 2015 AFCON.
The Fleet will be eager to get back to winning ways and have had success against the Beavers in the past, leading the head-to-head with nine wins to two, the latest coming two seasons ago in the National League South in February 2023.
Hampton and Richmond Borough last beat the visitors in 2021 and will be hoping for a repeat on Saturday.
