Fixture Focus: AFC Totton (A) 31/1

Fixture Focus: AFC Totton (A) 31/1

On Saturday January 31st Hampton & Richmond Borough travel to Hampshire to take on AFC Totton.

This past Tuesday the Beavers picked up a massive three points at home to second place Worthing courtesy of a Reece Grego-Cox penalty, his second goal in two games.

A great win which lifts Hampton & Richmond Borough out of the relegation zone.

National League South debutants AFC Totton have enjoyed a mixed season so far and their position in the table, 14th, suggests this. They have the joint most wins outside the top ten, tied with 11th-placed Maidenhead with twelve. Yet, they have just as many losses.

They have been a very good side at home, picking up nine of their twelve wins at Snows Stadium and 29 of their 39 points.

They have a goal difference of minus 9 and have conceded the second most goals of all the teams not in the relegation zone, their tally of 47 only lower than 18th placed Slough Town.

Their recent form is a mixed bag, with three wins, two losses and a draw making up their last six results. Their midweek clash against Maidenhead was postponed, so they last played on the 24th, winning 3-0 at home against Dover Athletic. They recorded an impressive victory against Torquay United at home in December but follow that up with a disappointed loss to Salisbury and draw to Chippenham Town.

A couple players to look out for include 30-year-old Striker Tony Lee and 20-year-old winger Ashley Clarke.

The former Eastleigh man Lee has four goals in his last four games for the Stags and has a total of 12 goals and 4 assists in the league so far this season.

Clark is on a dual registration with AFC Bournemouth and has five goals and seven assists so far this season.

Both featured in our victory over the Stags earlier in the season, and current Beaver Sam Ashford started up front for Saturday’s opposition when we faced them last.

The 2-0 win in early December was thanks to a stunning volley from Reece Grego-Cox and an equally impressive finish from Harry Gardner after a swift counterattack, in what was Alan Massey’s only match in his short interim manager stint.

A similar scoreline will go down well with the travelling Beavers fans this Saturday!

We are next at home on the 7th February when the Bev will host league leaders Hornchurch.

Tickets for that clash are available HERE!

Up the Beavers!
